Seeking Hackberry Mine = September 22, 2010

A 250' tunnel to nowhere once called Frog Peak Mine

Today it doesn't appear it was ever a "mine"

Overcast Weaver's Needle
The first running water on the trail
Our trek will take us from right to left
Continuing right to left
Continuing right to left
Our destination is just left of center
Appears there was a large cave-in
View from the tunnel entrance

Cave-in from a defunct mine??
Just inside the tunnel entrance
Cutout on the right 10' into the tunnel
Cutout on the left 10' into the tunnel
Looking back to the entrance
View 40' - 70' into the tunnel
And here comes the bat again
The bat nested in the ceiling
Mice on the wall about 100' in
Baby hung as mother trying to hide
About 150' into the tunnel
About 200' in and the bat is back
It kept flying at me then circling back
250' in and the bat is cornered
Last shot before I turned around to leave
View of entrance from 200' in
About 150' from the entrance
Dessicated mouse about 2
Is it a ghost bat? Sure look like it
Old flashlight found outside the tunnel
Another view of the tunnel entrance
Twin barrels
Tunnel is in center of photo
Zoomed in on the tunnel entrance
Weaver's Needle in the background
View of the Superstition Mountains
