What can you do in your
spiritual life to make the world a better place? While it's easy to choose the ones that fit you best, who said
life was easy?... So let's do our best and try to follow the all the steps below:
* Begin with the step which encompasses all... Whatever you are about to do,
take a moment and think, "What would Jesus do?" Then do your best to follow the steps you feel Jesus would
do. Yes, it is hard but well worth it.
* Give your all... Don't hide your faith, live it. Your faith in Christ
should be in evidence every day and every place you go, not just on Sunday mornings. Remember the two most important
things Jesus told His followers: 1. Love everyone as ourselves (yes,
our enemies too!) 2. Make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
* Strengthen your faith...
If you have a church but have been lax on attendance, make a committment to attend every week.
*
Attend church regularly... If you currently have no church home, take a look around and find one, then check
it out. If you don't feel the best about it, try another. Keep trying, but please don't seek a "feel
good" church, seek one that follows the inerrant truth of God's Word, the Bible. You'll be glad you
did. And no, you cannot be an effective follower of Jesus Christ if you don't have a church home. Jesus commanded
us to "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of
the Holy Spirit". The way to learn how to do so is to attend church.
*
Have you've been "burned" by bad church experiences in the past? Don't swear off Christ due
to failings of fellow human beings! As much as we'd like to be perfect, we aren't. We are fallible,
we are imperfect, and yes we sometimes act in non-Christian ways. But don't deny yourself the wonderful
salvation and mercy of Jesus Christ just to spite those who pushed their own agenda. Carrying a distaste
for Christ won't "get back" at them, it simply carries the hurt inside you. Let that hurt go
today, ask Christ into your heart!
* Why is it so important to
ask Christ into your heart? Because as much as He wants to come into your heart, He will not force
His will on us. He wants us to come to Him in faith, seeking to know Him more. People who scoff that "there
is no God" are so blinded by their own importance that they are unable to see the truth when it stares them in the face.
Until we can seek God as children, not having preconceived notions, all these things will be hidden from us, just
as Jesus said in Luke 10:21 "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden
these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children".
If we have made up our mind there is no God, then no amount of persuasion by others will change our mind.
However!!! If... We open our hearts
and minds to believe there is a God, and seek Him, Then... God Himself will open our eyes to the evidence that is all around us... that He is the one and only Creator of all.
Think of it this way, take just one glance at a building. Ok, not only do we know it didn't
appear on its own, we KNOW it was created an intelligent being, MAN! In the same way, look at the universe, or
better yet, look closely at our human bodies. Can we truthfully believe humans just popped into existence,
or even evolved from a single-cell being to the billion complex cells we are now? Talk about faith! It takes so
much more faith to believe we WEREN'T created by God, than to accept we were. So let's take a look around and
see the evidence of God's creation. As in Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of
God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands!
Further, practically every known civilization through eons
of time has believed in a higher power... Zeus, Apollo, Ra, Vishnu, Thor, Allah, Yahweh, Gitchie Manitou, God... Whatever
name He went by, can all these people through time have been wrong all along? If not, why can't you accept there
is a God?
